Dog Bed Selector

At Dog Gone Tired, our mission is to make it easy for you to select the right bed for your pooch.  No different for you, when selecting a mattress to sleep on. ItƒÂ¢¢Ã¢‚¬Å¡Ã‚¬¢Ã¢‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢s one of the most important purchases you will make. Like us they appreciate having their own bed, and look for comfort, warmth and security.

One of the things a dog does a lot of, is sleep, and many of them spend over half their lives sleeping. They also dream, just like us, sometimes quite vocally and you will see sometimes their legs jerking as though they are chasing the odd cat or squirrel. They are no different to us trying to find a comfortable position and place to lie. They will walk round in circles before settling down.

Through scientific research this has shown that they are creating a three dimensional mental image of smells as a protection. Should any interloper come within sniffing range, then the dog will detect this even while it sleeps and will wake up.

Again just like us they will have different sleeping positions throughout, sometimes curled up, sometimes stretched out, or with their nose resting on their paws. So size and shape are important, and you should make a note of your dogs preferred sleeping style.

Also important is what the bed is made up of, not only are washable covers important, but how hot the bed gets, ideally the bed should be warm in winter and cool enough in summer.

Also consider if you have a puppy it will become a larger dog, and therefore what is right for a puppy is not right for a fully grown dog, you will need to have a dog bed with a bit firmer support and maybe heavier fabrics. Also consider the older dog, like humans they can suffer from aches and pains, and joints may be stiffer, so more support, with memory foam and heated dog beds help sooth minor aches and pains. Some pet owners prefer their dog beds to be stuffed with cedar as this repels fleas

Some dogs like the feeling of being enclosed, and round beds and high sided beds are perfect, whilst others like to stretch out, or like to burrow into soft layers, like us with pillows.

So the same consideration should be given for the right dog bed for your dog. Not only should you consider the size, but you should consider what your dog bed is made up of, and how easy to clean.  Our Dog Bed Selector allows you to select the perfect Dog Gone Tired dog bed for your dog.
